Small-eyed Snake
Cryptophis nigrescens

In General

Often mistaken for the Red Belly Black Snake due to its pinkish belly, this snake only grows to about 500mm. It has tiny eyes and can be aggressive if provoked.

A bite may produce severe symptoms, with one fatality recorded. Seek urgent medical attention for any suspected bite.

Diet

Small vertebrates.

Habitat

Common in most areas of the Redlands, favouring cover under rocks, logs etc...

Breeding

Bearer of live young, with up to 8 born in a clutch.
