Pale Headed Rosella
Platycercus adscitus

In General

The Pale Headed Rosella is about 30cm long and weighs about 110 grams. They are timid birds that can be encouraged into backyards by offering seed and fresh water. Their call is similar to that of a small bell. They are generally seen in pairs or small flocks.

Diet

Seed, small fruits and insects.

Habitat

Savanna woodland, open forest and grassland.

Breeding

Breeding occurs from September to January. Eggs are laid in a tree hollow lined with wood chip. The female incubates the eggs. A clutch ranges in size from 3 to 6 eggs and breeding occurs once per year. The male bird helps with rearing the young after they hatch. The Pale Headed Rosella can breed with other Rosella.
