Noisy Miner

In General

The Noisy Miner is an Australian native bird that is often confused ith the introduced Common Indian Miner, Acridotheres tristis.

They actively compete with other birds for everyting from food, water, nesting sites and even perching space.

Diet

Almost opportunistic feeders eating nectar, fruit, insects, seed, food scraps as well as small reptiles and frogs.

Habitat

Woodland, open forest as well as suburban areas .

Breeding

Noisy Miners often breed in colonies where not only the parents raise their young, but other Noisy Miners assist, with the majority of these 'helpers' being male birds.

The breeding season extends from July to December and several clutches of eggs may be laid during this time. A clutch usually consisting of 3 to 4 eggs.
