Common Tree Snake
Dendrelaphis punctulata

In General

Also known as the Green Tree Snake, this is a very agile snake that is quite at home in the trees. They can grown between 1 and 2 metres long. They are usually olive green to black in colour and sometimes have blue flecks on their flanks.

This snake is harmless to humans, but if threatened will expose its throat and if touched may secrete a foul smelling substance from its anal glands.

Diet

Frogs, other reptiles and small mammals.

Habitat

Rainforest, eucalypt forest and generallly anywhere in its range with lush vegetation.

Breeding

An egg layer that produces between 5 to 12 eggs per clutch. Eggs are laid in the months of spring.
